We’re really excited to be part of the faculty at the Region 19 Singer’s School educational weekend this coming January 18-20! On Friday night, we’ll be opening up the weekend’s events with an Interview/Q&A Session. With moderator Sarah Nainan-Newhard, we’ll talk about our experiences during the last year in preparation for the SAI international contest, our crazy experience in Denver, and what lies ahead for Lustre.
On Saturday, we’re doing two classes. First, we’ll be conducting an Open Rehearsal. We’ll show how we go about managing our weekly time together, giving quartet singers some tips and techniques for getting the most out of your rehearsal time. We’ll do our regular rehearsal routine, including warm ups, new music, contest music, and “business”. Unfortunately we won’t be in our normal rehearsal space, so we won’t be able to demonstrate the editorial comments and push-out quartet experiences that we normally would have with Whiskers the Cat.
Our second class on Saturday is about the Quartet Experience. We’ll share our thoughts on quartet management, goal setting, and generally “staying sane and staying friends” in the quartet experience. We’ll treat this session more like a moderated group discussion, and look forward to hearing about other quartet singers’ experiences and advice.
The Singer’s School Guest Faculty is Paula Davis, SAI Certified Expression Judge and Certified International Faculty. Paula will be presenting information all weekend long to improve the quartet and chorus singer’s performance across all judging categories. The weekend promises to be another fantastic experience. Whether you are a quartet singer or a chorus singer, we know that you will learn a lot, and have a lot of fun at the same time.
Registration is now open. The cost of registration has been reduced this year by $10, to better serve the needs of the regional membership. We hope you’ll take advantage of this price break and sign up! For more information on the weekend’s events, visit the Region 19 website here.
